Jalan Besar
Our journey in Singapore was filled with so much excitement and adventure. One of the highlights of our trip was taking the Farrer Park MRT to Jalan Besar.

The Farrer Park MRT station is centrally located and super convenient, with plenty of amenities and services available for commuters. We really appreciated the cleanliness and efficiency of the station, and were also pleasantly surprised by how friendly and helpful the staff were.
From the station, it was just a short walk to Jalan Besar where we immersed ourselves in the vibrant and fascinating culture of Singapore.
Demographics and Culture
Singapore is truly a melting pot of cultures and races, with a rich history that spans centuries. From Chinese to Indian to Malay influences, we were amazed by the diverse and colorful tapestry of Singaporean culture.
We explored the lively and bustling streets of Jalan Besar, marveling at the mix of old and new architecture, traditional and modern shops, and savory smells wafting through the air.
One of the highlights of our cultural experience was visiting the Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple, a stunning Hindu temple that dates back to 1855. We learned so much about the Hindu religion and traditions, and were humbled by the devotion and dedication of the worshipers.
We also checked out the Masjid Abdul Gaffoor, a beautiful mosque that showcases the Islamic heritage of Singapore. The architecture is breathtaking, and we were fascinated by the history and significance of the mosque.
Tourist Destinations
In addition to exploring the cultural hub of Jalan Besar, we also made a point to visit some of Singapore's most iconic tourist destinations.
One of our favorites was Gardens by the Bay, a stunning and futuristic botanical garden that is truly a sight to behold. The towering Supertrees and the mesmerizing light shows left us speechless.
We also enjoyed checking out the iconic Marina Bay Sands, a luxurious hotel and resort that features an incredible rooftop pool and stunning views of the city skyline.
Finally, we made sure to visit the famous Merlion statue, the symbol of Singapore's tourism industry. We snapped plenty of photos with the mythical half-lion, half-fish creature and enjoyed the beautiful views of the Marina Bay.
Shopping
No trip to Singapore is complete without indulging in some shopping. We found plenty of fantastic retail therapy opportunities in Jalan Besar and beyond.
One of our favorite shopping destinations was Mustafa Centre, a massive shopping complex that literally never sleeps. With hundreds of thousands of products available and some of the best deals in town, we spent hours exploring the different levels and categories.
We also loved exploring the unique and quirky shops around Haji Lane, a charming and colorful street with tons of personality and charm.
For high-end shopping, we couldn't resist checking out the famous Orchard Road, a long and luxurious stretch of malls and boutiques that caters to every taste and budget.
Culinary
Finally, we can't forget the incredible culinary experiences we had in Singapore. From hawker centers to high-end restaurants, we tasted some of the most delicious and unique flavors of our lives.
One of our favorite hawker centers was the Tekka Centre, which features a huge selection of authentic local food at very reasonable prices. We tried everything from chili crab to rojak to laksa, and were blown away by every bite.
We also treated ourselves to a fancy dinner at the famous Odette restaurant, which features elegant and innovative French cuisine with a Singaporean twist. The ambiance and service were just as impressive as the food.
Finally, we sampled some incredible cocktails at the newly-opened Manhattan bar, which features a diverse selection of classic and modern drinks in a chic and sophisticated setting.
